We launched YANA in 2011 with an ambitious vision that united and motivated all of us: to organize and leverage the collective power of Yale’s nonprofit alumni network for the greater social good.
We estimate that at least 2 out of 3 Yale alumni (that’s over 100,000 alums) are involved in the nonprofit and social enterprise sectors as executive directors, practitioners, board members, donors or volunteers. In a little over 7 years, YANA has already grown to include more than 3,500 participants.
YANA members live and work around the world. YANA is closely involved with current students and campus life through our Fellows Program, and with alumni in a wide range of career stages through initiatives including annual conferences and benefits, the quarterly Roundtables in NYC and the Bay Area and our nationwide Mentorship Program. We are a diverse group, but we have in common both our Yale experiences and a passion to improve the world. We share our wisdom, exchange ideas and learn from collaborators. We are creating scalable, replicable models for many of our initiatives, particularly event production, chapter formation and programmatic growth.
Honors from the Association of Yale Alumni have included: Outstanding Alumni Shared Interest Group (SIG) for 2013, and Outstanding Alumni SIG award for Volunteer Engagement and Leadership for 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The tireless efforts of YANA’s dedicated volunteers have made these achievements possible. Their time, support, and thought leadership have made YANA a robust network and forum for Yale alumni and their families, friends and colleagues to share best practices, give back, and change lives.
