Please join us next week to learn about this growing ecosystem and how three Yale alums are boldly advancing entrepreneurship and education within New Haven and beyond.   \n\nWednesday\, May 26 | 6:30 PM EDT\nREGISTER\n*** \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPEAKERS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPatricia Melton ’83 is Executive Director of New Haven Promise\, a scholarship and support program created to promote college education as an aspiration for all New Haven public school students. The long-term mission of New Haven Promise is to leverage education in support of economic development throughout greater New Haven. There are now over 300 college Promise programs across the nation\, and\, under Patricia’s dynamic leadership\, her New Haven organization has emerged as one of the leading Promise initiatives in the US\, receiving over $4 million a year from Yale. Peter Salovey sits on her board and is a very active member.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaroline Smith ‘14 and Margaret Lee ‘14 are co-founders of Collab\, a community-centered business accelerator that empowers individuals and families to use entrepreneurship to gain autonomy\, build wealth\, and shape their communities.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore Collab\, Caroline was the Co-Director of Marketing at SeeClickFix\, a civic technology company that connects citizens with their local governments. She also founded New Haven Bike Month\, an effort to build bicycle justice through neighborhood empowerment. Currently she is Chair of the Downtown-Wooster Square Community Management Team. She’s received the New Haven Biz Women in Business Award and in 2017 was named to Connecticut Magazine’s 40 Under 40.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore Collab\, Margaret worked at the Yale Entrepreneurship Institute (now the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale) where she managed Yale’s academic year and summer accelerators\, overseeing more than 100 student and faculty ventures. She is the former Chair of the Elm City Innovation Collaborative and currently serves as Commissioner of the Economic Development Commission. She received the New Haven Biz Women in Business Award for her work.
