The long-term mission of New Haven Promise is to leverage education in support of economic development throughout greater New Haven. There are now over 300 college Promise programs across the nation\, and\, under Patricia’s dynamic leadership\, her New Haven organization has emerged as one of the leading Promise initiatives in the US\, receiving over $4 million a year from Yale. Peter Salovey sits on her board and is a very active member.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaroline Smith ‘14 and Margaret Lee ‘14 are co-founders of Collab\, a community-centered business accelerator that empowers individuals and families to use entrepreneurship to gain autonomy\, build wealth\, and shape their communities.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore Collab\, Caroline was the Co-Director of Marketing at SeeClickFix\, a civic technology company that connects citizens with their local governments. She also founded New Haven Bike Month\, an effort to build bicycle justice through neighborhood empowerment. Currently she is Chair of the Downtown-Wooster Square Community Management Team. She’s received the New Haven Biz Women in Business Award and in 2017 was named to Connecticut Magazine’s 40 Under 40.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore Collab\, Margaret worked at the Yale Entrepreneurship Institute (now the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale) where she managed Yale’s academic year and summer accelerators\, overseeing more than 100 student and faculty ventures. She is the former Chair of the Elm City Innovation Collaborative and currently serves as Commissioner of the Economic Development Commission. She received the New Haven Biz Women in Business Award for her work.

In Life Stories\, incarcerated youth\, people in addiction recovery\, wounded veterans\, seniors in assisted living\, and many others learn to create original dramatic works based on their lived experiences. Building upon the framework of the Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship program that transformed community engagement at Yale in 1968 and has operated for more than 50 years\, YANA’s collaborative vision and its networks of support have expanded the program in three key ways: to include seniors who recently graduated\, to sponsor engagement with organizations outside of Greater New Haven\, and to generally grow the reach and impact of the Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship program.\n\nThe joint YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship provides summer funding to Yale undergraduates and recently graduated seniors for public service and justice-oriented positions. The NAC is a pioneer in the field of urban conservation\, using data and science to develop new ways to manage urban natural areas so that they provide recreation opportunities for diverse users\, protect biodiversity\, and provide environmental benefits. Sarah has a BA in Economics from Binghamton University and an MEM from the Yale School of Forestry.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeorgia Silvera-Seamans lives and breathes city trees–with field experience in New Haven\, Boston\, Oakland\, and NYC\, and a dissertation about urban forestry policy in Northern California cities. Georgia’s research has been published in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening and Arboriculture & Urban Forestry. She is the founder of Local Nature Lab and directs Washington Square Park Eco Projects where she designs urban ecology programs for New Yorkers of all ages. Georgia also writes about trees with bylines in City Trees and about birds with articles at Popular Science and Audubon.

His work has been featured by Fox and Friends\, Andrea Mitchell Reports\, Good Morning America\, the Associated Press\, Men’s Health\, the New Yorker\, and the New York Times\, among others. He has also served in executive positions in Yale’s largest political action organization and Class Councils. He is the founder of Registration Is Student Empowerment (RISE)\, a student voter registration organization devoted to the notion that when we all vote\, we all rise. He has earned the 2020 Webby Award for Special Achievement\, the George H. W. Bush Points of Light Award\, and the Manhattan Institute’s Civil Society Award\, and was recognized as one of 2020’s top philanthropists by Town & Country Magazine\, alongside Dr. Anthony Fauci and Oprah Winfrey. \nKristin Urquiza is a graduate of Yale University and the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley where she earned a Master of Public Affairs. She is an economic\, social\, and environmental justice advocate and co-founder of Marked By COVID. Her activism is powered by both expertise and lived experience and is a direct response to the heartache she has endured by the broken promises of this country.
