SUMMARY:YANA Panel | Scenario Planning: What Does Education Look Like in Fall 2020?
DESCRIPTION:Scenario Planning: What Does Education Look Like in Fall 2020?\nTuesday\, June 23\, 2020 | 6:30pm EDT Virtual Panel Discussion followed by Audience Q&A. \nLed by Professor Barbara Biasi\, Yale School of Management\nCOVID-19 has created complex\, new challenges for educational nonprofits from grades K-12 through college. Issues such as teacher and student safety\, health testing\, privacy\, the cost and effectiveness of eLearning\, student extracurricular opportunities\, transportation policies\, supply chain logistics\, and more need to be addressed. \nScenario thinking can help organizations better anticipate and adapt to dramatic changes\, increase agility and resilience\, and turn uncertainty into an advantage.  \nJoin us for a conversation to learn how educators are planning to address these challenges in the face of uncertainty. While no one has clear answers today\, we know that Yale trains individuals to think creatively at the forefront of issues — the ideas presented and discussed will be a provocative conversation about what to expect and ways to respond. \n*** \nSpeakers: \n\nJeremy Chiappetta (SOM ’02)\, CEO of Blackstone Valley Prep\, six charter schools serving 2\,000 students in K-12 in Rhode Island\nMeghan Hughes (YC ’88)\, President\, Community College of Rhode Island\, the largest community college in New England\nPericles Lewis\, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Global Strategy)\, Yale University\nLeslie Torres-Rodriguez\, Superintendent of Hartford Public Schools serving 18\,000 PreK-12 students from Hartford and nearly 90 nearby towns with 39 schools and 18 magnet schools\nBarbara Biasi\, Assistant Professor of Economics at SOM whose research focuses on labor economics and microeconomics with special application to education and creativity. SUMMARY:Yale Community Connect Online Get-Together: How to Take Meaningful Action
DESCRIPTION:How to Take Meaningful Action: Sharing Experiences and Asking Questions\nYale Community Connect Online Get-Together\nJune 10\, 2020 12:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) \nPlease join us for an informal talk with Yale Community Connect volunteers who will share their experiences and answer questions. If you would like to share or would like to volunteer and are not sure how to take action\, please join us. You do not need to be a Yale alum to participate. Just bring your curiosity and wish to help. Click here to register \nYale Community Connect Response to Our Times \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the deep inequalities that Yale Community Connect has endeavored to address from its inception. Too many people in our country of opportunity are being denied opportunities\, dignity\, health\, and well-being because of the shade of their skin\, level of formal education\, and lack of economic resources. These hard realities go back hundreds of years. The instant access to video has made them undeniable to all. \nBecause of inequality\, those who have resources and opportunities can best start to help those who don’t by listening\, asking how we can be supportive\, and creating conversations of trust that enable honest discussion and meaningful action. \nYale Community Connect has encouraged participants to build ongoing relationships with communities\, to listen to what communities identify as their needs\, to support communities in meeting their needs and growing stronger\, and to face challenges together through ongoing respectful conversation and invested action. \n— Alison Gardy\nDirector\, Yale Community Connect \nThis meeting will be held on Zoom \nRegister here \nRegister in advance for this meeting:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMsf-irqjgiHtcTKIMnpnZcqRhTqWQB5tvf \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n\n***\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that this meeting will be conducted virtually over the Zoom platform\, and that in order to participate you’ll first need to download Zoom.

SUMMARY:YANA Webinar | How Donors & Nonprofits Can Achieve Greater Impact in the Age of COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, April 22\, 2020 1:00-2:00 PM ET\n\n\n\nHow Donors & Nonprofits Can Achieve Greater Impact in the Age of COVID-19 — Kat Rosqueta ‘89\, Founding Executive Director\, Center for High Impact Philanthropy\, University of Pennsylvania \n\n \nHigh impact philanthropy is the practice of using philanthropic funds for social impact. It starts with a social impact goal\, then uses the best available evidence\, considerations of cost and impact\, and a commitment to ongoing learning to achieve that goal. It’s not about how much you give\, but how well you give to drive positive\, social change. \nDrawing from the approach that she and her team at the Center for High Impact Philanthropy pioneered\, Kat will share some of the key principles that both nonprofits and funders can use to identify opportunities for greater social impact. Given the scale of the harm caused by the current COVID-19 pandemic\, she will illustrate how nonprofits and funders alike are applying these principles to respond to the current situation. \n*** \nKat Rosqueta’s Full Bio \nREGISTER
