SUMMARY:Celebrating Service: 5 Years of the YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Service: 5 Years of the YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship\nThursday\, October 7 | 7:00pm ET\nDETAILS & REGISTER\n\nJoin Yale Alumni Service Initiatives\, Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance (YANA)\, and Dwight Hall at Yale in celebrating five years of successful partnership expanding opportunities for Yale students to create social change. Building upon the framework of the Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship program that transformed community engagement at Yale in 1968 and has operated for more than 50 years\, YANA’s collaborative vision and its networks of support have expanded the program in three key ways: to include seniors who recently graduated\, to sponsor engagement with organizations outside of Greater New Haven\, and to generally grow the reach and impact of the Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship program.\n\nThe joint YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship provides summer funding to Yale undergraduates and recently graduated seniors for public service and justice-oriented positions. Applicants must have a demonstrated financial need and those who face barriers to exploring opportunities in the nonprofit and social sectors are strongly encouraged to apply. Fellows convene for weekly meetings and receive mentoring and guidance from YANA leaders and Dwight Hall’s professional staff. \nThis panel honors the work that recent YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellows have accomplished and explores the impact that YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellows feel that the program has had on their academic and career trajectory. It will be moderated by Dwight Hall’s Director of Programming and Evaluation\, Mark Fopeano. \nPANELISTS:\nOlivia Paschal ’18\nHistory PhD Candidate\, UVA \nTrinh Truong ’19\nCofounder\, Bakhita Center \nLuisa Graden ’20\nFulbright Grantee in Madrid
